For any crossover people (ones that watch both WN and RWBY, which honestly should be a decent bunch cause both shows feature badass complex women, a wlw main couple, and fights against major big bads) and now that WN is legit coming back (as I mentioned in another post I had given up a bit of it returning tbh). I’ve had the idea for a while though one part does elude me; but fk it:

like… keigo, for example. never got to have anything other than an lofty end goals and a persistent, detached hand at his back, forcing him toward it. the only desires he can rlly indulge in are food, and even that’s somewhat limited.

god, but get him Whipped for you? he’s fucked. he sees couples on patrol, holdings hands and going on little walks and dates and thinks ‘huh wow that would be nice to do with you.’ gets caught so hard in his head, thinking about how your hand would feel in his, what your favorite flavors are, how you best like your scarf wrapped around your neck when it’s cold. keigo tries to estimate how long it’ll take to learn those little thing, and impatiently, he wishes it was sooner.

he spends the next forever thinking about how he wants you in his bed. maybe you could… make it better. together. everything in his apartment was purchased by interior designer, impersonal but fashionable. functional in most ways. he wonders if you like the weight and feel of his sheets and duvet, and if you could change things, what would you? how do your sheets and bedclothes feel? it’s all mundane and small, but it worms into his lil birdbrain and won’t budge.

he’s never thought about how someone’s heat distributes between cotton when mingled with his own. he’s never thought about another’s go-to coffee order, or how dark they like their toast. but with you? it’s every little detail. every little things shakes him to his core and god, he’s a greedy man. he hopes the feeling never stops.

Unnecessary Arguments - RWBY Characters

*Spoilers*

Person #1: Okay, first thing’s first - almost all the characters in RWBY are garbage. Terribly written garbage

Person #2: This coming IMMEDIATELY after that amazing Cinder backstory…

Person #1: There was nothing epic about it. It was stupid

Person #2: I saw your jaw drop while you were watching it

Person #1: Because I thought it was going to go somewhere. It didn’t. It was actually completely pointless and contributed nothing to the plot. Does the random huntsman hesitate? Nope, she just beats him. Does SHE hesitate? Nope

Person #2: Because she’s been abused all of her life

Person #1: So her solution is to kill the guy who’s been helping her? I thought maybe he’d let her go, or something interesting would happen. Then I browsed Reddit, and someone pointed out that he never actually did anything about her getting abused. So maybe it would have been interesting to see her recognize he just wanted to use her or something, but...nope

Person #2: It’s foreshadowing that she actually wants to betray Salem

Person #1: Good luck with that. The only thing she’s managed to do since killing my favorite character is...is...basically nothing, actually. And hearing her backstory now was out of nowhere

Person #2: There was this trending post on Medium of a janitor. She worked at one of those tech startups, and this entitled millennial software engineer literally texted her an image of the office’s clogged toilet at midnight on a Friday, so she would drive in and fix it

Person #1: Wut?

Person #2: Just thought of that for some reason. Lots of people aren’t Cinder fans, I get it. I think it’s because she kind of got nerfed. The other characters, though...brilliant

Person #1: Ironwood is an idiot. They could have easily evacuated the city AND lifted off. Do you think his strategy makes sense?

Person #2: In war, no one has a crystal ball. You’d just better be damn sure you have a military general with determination and resolve. The civilians, though, don’t agree with him. You have yourself a very realistic military scenario

Person #1: Nothing is realistic about any of this, and you know it

Person #2: Right, whales can’t fly. Okay, say you’re playing StarCraft. A huge swarm of zerg are coming in to your main base

Person #1: WHAT IS WITH YOU AND RANDOM TANGENTS

Person #2: Hear me out! You need to fight back, but you can’t let the bases at your main fall or it will fk up your tech tree. So what do you do? You hit liftoff

Person #1: Well if the enemy has air, they’ll just take you out in like five seconds. So even your random fking tangent doesn’t help your argument. Qrow could have turned into a crow and escaped when he had a chance

Person #2: That’s a dumb argument. He was in a damaged mental state. Also, they might be like...hey, what’s this...a crow in the middle of no where. Hm…

Person #1: And what the fk is with Penny? She died, and that was tragic, but then they just kind of bring her back. She’s not an interesting character. Her abilities are overpowered. Nothing foreshadowed she would become a maiden

Person #2: Whale. Pinnochio. BOOM, checkmate. And her becoming a maiden was totally foreshadowed

Person #1: Nope. Also, all of the abilities are stupid

Person #2: This from the guy who likes MHA, which features a tape dispenser

Person #1: That’s the point. In MHA, the characters have ridiculous abilities but they still work because the designs and personalities are so interesting. RWBY, all the abilities are ridiculous. Physics defying super speed. Literal time distortion. Fking immortality. They’re making this up so fast, they can’t keep up with themselves

Person #2: Bad luck. Masking fear. Nothing. Some characters have interesting semblances

Person #1: So we learn about maidens, volume three, and it’s awesome. Clearly it’s a power to take seriously. But then...nope...Cinder gets it and goes on to lose every fight. Then Penny just kind of gets it and masters it right out of the gate. Ruby? She’s the worst. Nothing comes at a cost, all of her abilities are vague and made up, and she’s going to be a maiden at this rate because why the hell not?

Person #2: What is your problem? Your argument is basically just that the characters are too good. Have you watched anime, or any superhero show, or...anything in the fantasy genre? You want so badly to hate this show, and you can’t even come up with a good argument

Person #1: The characters suck and so does the plot. I’ll roast that next

Person #2: Nope, I’m done for the day

03.22.2020 /bad.morning.

I woke up around 6:30 am. The sky was getting lighter through the brown blinds hung on the south side bedroom window. It looked so peaceful peeking through the slats. Pink smeared with grey, the next day arriving. Here it is. The next day. When I let Sonny out, I saw a skim of snow had fallen overnight, covering the ground. It felt like a clouded metaphor. 

A reply in FB this morning from a NC high school friend sorta clarified that metaphor in some way. Donna said, Most all of the cherry trees in Winston-Salem have been replaced with Bradford Pears and, while beautiful when they bloom, they have a pungent, unpleasant odor . . . maybe a sign that beauty is truly only skin deep. Thank you, Donna. 

And maybe truth is only skin deep? At least, the truth being espoused by our government lately? I dunno, huh? Politicians are only saving themselves right now and it feels exceedingly shallow, skin deep and dirty. There is no real leadership on top but plenty of ego and fairytales spinning. Gah. Fk. We are all being rendered helpless for so many reasons, ones I cannot possibly enumerate. I’m not even gonna try. That’s not the point. 

Meanwhile, in my state of MN, I’m gonna take a minute to applaud our Gov Tim Walz. He is in touch with us, speaking hard truths without lip gloss, and working to come up with survival plans and simply—good solid advice for our state going forward. I am sure he is working hard for us.

Meanwhile, I honestly don’t give a shit about the stock market (sorry for those of you who are losing your investments and retirement :((( ) but am very much more concerned about those working in service industries; restaurants, small businesses and retailers, vintage stores, musicians and performers of every kind, daycare workers, delivery drivers and so many more I’m not able to list right now—it’s too enormous, all of us hinged with each other on any working calendar day. Bless all of you. Hang in there... be in touch. I want to hear from you.

OK. Pulling myself together a little more. My personal deal is, I’m away from my children and my 6-month old grandson, Ezra. I don’t know when I’ll see them in person again. Fk. But I am gratefully in place with my amazing husband and that guy makes me laugh every damn day. Like, what would I do without him? We DO have to keep laughing, it’s a Vonnegut thing. I also recommend all of you following Tony Baker on Instagram. If you don’t have Instagram, just GET IT. In addition to my husband, Tony is keeping me afloat all day every day. He’s posting like a maniac. Skiddlety-paps! Thanks to my friend Annie who connected me. 

OK! Pulling myself together even a little more. Today is a Sunday. It helps to talk with anyone who is reading this. It might be a bit warmer today and at some point I will venture out onto the prairie and walk along the river with my trusted companion, Sonny. I’ll probably cry my face off. That will help. 

I’m listening to NPR right now, Michelle Lee in Alexandria, VA—a store owner. She’s on the front lines the same way the medical industry is. Honor them! They are putting themselves at risk, ALL DAY EVERY DAY, to check us out at the register with our provisions and stay as risk free as possible or treat us at the doors of clinics and hospitals. 

I thought about that yesterday as I paid cash for a purchase and felt like I was pouring contagion change into my wallet. Yikes! But, dood had hand sanitizer at the ready and was cleaning his hands after every customer came through. Way to GO! Soooo maybe my wallet isn’t a virus breeding container. Still, when I got home, I washed it. :) We can actually wash cash as well, if we are being uber careful, and soak our change in white vinegar. NOTE: There are more ways to disinfect than buying Clorox Bleach wipes which are utterly unavailable on the shelves. 

For those of you who care at all about cooking, and lately, we all might be, since we are stuck at home (but DO support your local restaurants with curb service take-out if you are WFH and financially able) you might wanna visit BonAppetit vids on YouTube. Super entertaining, instructive and FREE. If you go there and like beans (which are extremely available dried), check out Carla making the perfect pot of beans. I made them last week and they are still in my refrigerator—delivering for quesadillas, soup, cold from the fridge next to kraut, arugula, and cottage cheese (haha... me and my weird small cold plates)—and you can always freeze them in bags or containers. Super delicious and nutritious. Once you click on my BonAppetit link, you can scroll through endless other videos, go into that rabbit hole, calm yourself, trance out. After I finish this post, that’s what I’m gonna do. 

Final note. Friend Alissa wrote me on FB this morning and said this, in regard to cherry blossoms mentioned in my previous post: I just got my mom in touch with her family in Japan today after a long hiatus. and they were like pass this message on to her. which basically translated to the cherry blossoms are in season... (thanking my friend Kevin in Bed Stuy who sent me the link via FB mssngr)

It will be warmer today and—rain is coming. I might just take a walk in the rain with my deep sadness that I am trying to beat back. Thanks for listening, ppl. We all have our own worry and pain and separation from our loved ones. One day we’ll feel okay and the next, annihilated. It’s all good—we have to stay real and let our frustration and sadness be there and hopefully, later, be released.

PSA -; I'm having a ton of personal issues (tldr I'm depressed af) and my school is stressing me out and I honestly do not know what I want to do with a lot of my accounts anymore and I can't be bothered to think about them right now. tips and tricks from someone who has moved more often than id care to think about: once you get to the new space take pictures of Everything and i do mean Everything, any scratches, dings, peeled paint, damage to the cabinets, test out the burners to ensure they all get hot, check the fridge is working properly, the washer/dryer conections if your place does. make note of whats broken and put in a work order asap.

also cleaning trick: if your stovetop has burners either through electric or gas lift up the covers/burners and put down aluminum foil so you only ever need to replace the foil and you wont need to clean them. on that same thought, get contact paper for your shelves, this way if you need to clean it like it gets dirty or you need to move you can peel it up and bam: shelf as clean as the day you put the paper down

(AllHipHop News) The listeners of a variety of radio stations in several states were shocked earlier this evening (January 31), when an anti Donald Trump song interrupted the normal broadcasts.

Over the past several days, radio stations in Seattle, Louisville, and a cable TV provider in North Carolina have had their signals hacked.

YG and Nipsey Hussle’s song “FDT (F##k Donald Trump” played, with the explicit references to President Donald Trump included.

On WFBS-FM in Salem, South Carolina the record played for at least 15 minutes, before station managers were able to reclaim the hijacked signal.

WFBS-FM has reported the incident to the FCC.
